Complete Hull stitched together

Kayak Building, Taalak

Panels 5/6 for the hull never existed in any form on the Ta’al. To make these, I actually relied once again on the internal frames. I wasn’t 100% sure of the shape of the ends, althought I had a pretty good idea.

I elected to cut out some cardboard, tape it to the hull and frames and mark out the lines. With this cardboard template I could be sure I had panels that fit, than I cut out the real panels.

Kayak looks sleek, panels 5/6 taper in towards the cockpit to make paddling easier
Frames in place, but not glued as I want to fiberglass the hull interior. Yes there was a measurement error for the cutouts on some of the beams
Test fitting possible seat location and taking a look at what she looks like
Its in the foreground, but yes, its huge!!
The panels are a little long, I wanted to actually bend the stern panel in towards the bow, but I had a brain cramp. I cut two of them out so there would be extra material for mounting a rudder or anything else off the back which felt too thick to have any noticeable bend. In the end I realized I didn’t need a whole complete panel and opted for just a roughly square piece, but forgot to put the bend in and stitch it.
