Stitching the hull together

Posted on September 13, 2020 By Mike No Comments on Stitching the hull together
Kayak Building, Sabalo 12 MK1

Finally got to stitching the hull together. 18 Ga copper wire does seem to be perfect as everyone says. It held the stern and bow pieces together really well. Those parts were definitely challenging to do.

Drilled holes and inserted stitches down the center of the bottom hull panels

It’s super cool opening up the bottom hull panels and having a curved hull shape come together.

Everything seems to fit so far. I’ve got the 4 frames wired up to the bottom panels.

Frame isn’t stitched in here yet, just seeing how it fits

The hull shape looks awesome seeing it in person. Looks super fast already. Going to nickname our Honor the blunt nose as this bow is so pointy fast.

Some slight adjustment still needed at the bow and stern. Bit the shape is starting to take form.
It’s easy to imagine the hull shape with frame 1 in the background. It’s amazing these were flat plywood panels just a few minutes ago.
